Software asset management (SAM) is a business practice that involves managing and optimizing the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of software applications within an organization. According to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), SAM is defined as “…all of the infrastructure and processes necessary for the effective management, control and protection of the software assets…throughout all stages of their lifecycle.
In our case we limit our software asset management services to two key areas:
1. Deployment of Software :
TJC Asset Management can and does store & deploy web based software applications for clients. In traditional SAM this would mean the deployment of desktop software etc within an organization. An Example of this would include the distribution / deployment of Microsoft Office throughout an organization. In our case however, we are deploying / installing web based applications for our clients on their clients servers.
Our Client ( Develops Software ) > Their Client ( Buys Software ) > TJC ( Stores & Installs Software on “Their Client’s” Servers )
2. Contract Management :
TJC maintains and services the Licensing Agreements / Contracts for our clients. Our involvement is limited to the following:
a. Collection of License / Contract payments
b. Reporting Contract Standing to Our Clients ( Are their clients in good standing )
